The formats for MGA tournaments are intended to provide its members with a mix of both social and serious golf. Breakfast events will generally be based on pairings from the pro shop in the A-B-C-D format, based on USGA handicaps. These events will vary in format, with the goal of fostering camaraderie by providing an opportunity for play with groups of members who would not typically be paired during the course of normal play.

The MGA Board will approve and publish formats, pairings, and conditions of play prior to the registration for each event. That information will be posted on this website under the COP/RESULTS/FILES tab.

All players should note that the use of Member Tees in tournaments has been resolved through adherence to USGA Rule 3.5. If noted in the condition of play, members who sign up for tournaments must notify the Pro Shop that they intend to use the Member Tees at the time of registration. This will allow the Pro Shop to adjust the player's handicap prior to the event and have it published on the score card (if a printed card is to be used).  In some tournaments, a "tournament tee" will be used that will require all play be from a single set of tees, thus reducing any advantage playing a different set of tees within the same event for the entire field. Additionally, the MGA will appoint a representative to oversee each tournament in accordance with USGA Rules 33 and 34.  The Director of Golf or a golf pro-staff member, the Tournament Committee Chairman and at least one MGA Committee member chosen at random will officiate each tournament to handle protests, matters of concern regarding interpretation of rules and course suitability for play.  Weather cancellations are within the purview of the Committee.
